If you like it, commissionme!

This is so different for me. It came from subbing; I was at one of the middle schools in a tiny little resource room of, like, six students, and one of them fancied himself an artist. He was drawing a dragon and, since I haven't drawn dragons in FOREVER, I figured what the heck. Er, I kind of put him to shame...? He was in middle school, after all, and hasn't drawn as often as I have.

I learned a lot about textured brushes in this. Doing the scales took four days but it was worth the carpel-tunnel I gave myself. I'm not as fond of the legs - I didn't want the scale texture to go on forever, but the legs don't look quite right. Maybe I used the wrong brush...? The wings are week, too. I wanted them to look leathery and slightly transparent. They don't, and I couldn't find the right brush to make it do what I wanted.

I deliberately kept the background simplified because I want to keep focus on the dragon. It looks okay zoomed out, but I'm not sure if it works as well on closer inspection.

Still, overall, a great learning experience and an adequate piece for me.

What I like: the FACE. Look at it. Seriously. All the texture I learned about. The little canyon thingie...

What I don't like: The claws and wings. How the background looks up close.

As always, let me know what you think!

it looks really huge, you sure that's the actual size of the dragon?
