Moment to Mourn

Description

I'm still alive...!

I've been super busy the last few weeks doing this little project called novelizing AC2. The things I do to myself...

Anyway, I'm still slogging through it and will likely go dark again, but this had been sitting on the computer half finished for, like, three weeks now and I had some time and said, "Darn it, I'm finishing this!"

This was initiated by a quote in the GameInformer's article (and yes, I still have it. It's the only thing keeping me 'til October) about fighting, being beaten down, rising, and fighting again. The article also talks about how the relationship between George Washington and Connor is one of the biggest relationships in the game. Though I'm terrified the yaoi fangirls will ruin the pair like they did with Altair and Malik, or Leonardo and Ezio, I'm more than a little interested in seeing how they take it. There's so much... lore around Washington, he's such a national hero, I'm really interested in how he'll be portrayed.

And so, the two of them take a moment to mourn all the losses the revolution will drag out of them.

So:

Things I like: Connor's shading, his hair, his expression. George's color palette and the signs of age on him.

Things I don't like:Everything from the shoulders down. George's shoulder is too narrow and I hate the shading on Connor's shoulders. Meh. Such is life. Background is also a fail, I've been sitting on this long enough that I didn't want to try and figure out how to do snow and sit on this piece for even LONGER.

As always, let me know what you think!

Nice look to it, and the detail in the costumes is great, but they need a bit more volume to them.

Stuff like George's collar there - you shade it well if the cape were paper thin, but it should have some volume it it - highlights should be applied to the front edges of the cape; and the areas where the gold meets the blue, there should be some darker shades there - the gold to blue transition is where different material would be stitched together, so the shading should reflect that. Same sort of thing with the lapel - the bottom edge on the lapels should be a BIT darker, because the light would have to try to curve around the material there, so it should get a bit darker.

Otherwise, the folds in the fabric look fine, it's just a matter of giving the material some volume. Lovely piece, though.
