:omfg: :faint:  :eager: :squee: ZOMG The new trailer!! The EPICNESS!! I wanna PLAY!! :squee: :eager:  :faint: :omfg:

*dies of heart palps*

I knew immediately what I wanted to do for today's speedpaint, and I wasn't sure I could STAND doing it quickly, but I took a deep breath and made myself do the practice. About 2.5 hours. I have the "process" up, too, so y'all can see how I did it.

Although I can't be sure, I think I'm getting the hang of color picking for pieces. The palette for this one was obvious given the trailer, but I picked out all the colors on my own, and was surprised to learn that, while studying the screenshot, there were a lot of greys in the shading that read as blue and greys that read as brown. It was eye opening, to say the least.

The breakdown:

What I like: Look at my epic win on painting rocks. Look at it! It... it... it looks like a rock, and even better, it looks like it's supposed to be there. Oh, happy day! And, and, Connor, in all his epic "I'm running to the Brits to kick ass and turn the tide of Bunker Hill!" posing. (I THINK it's Bunker Hill, you could see the Old North Church in one of the backgrounds, that means the ship's on the Charles River in Boston Harbor so...). Also note that the background is not a fail. Love dried out grass fields for that reason.

Things I don't like: minor details like Connor's bow or that fact that I utterly FORGOT his quiver. The proportions are stretched and you can really see it (where else?) on his head/hood. I'm also a little mad at myself that I put in as much detail as I did; this was supposed to be a speedpaint, and I wanted a rougher texture to it (if texture is the right word), but as soon as I zoomed in (which is what doomed me) I was niggling over clean lines and definition instead of just giving the shapes and letting the brain infer the rest.

Let me know what you think!

Nice work with the color palette! I think the proportions do look off - his head seems a bit big/long for his body - but you already realized that (=

and I can't wait for the new game! So excited! :woohoo:
