... I really don't see how Kallus is going to survive this season....

Simple painting for a very complicated episode - lots of moving parts and the two of us are finally starting to see why Thrawn is so scary. Time this week was in short supply and will be for the next couple of weeks. Hopefully I'll make my "painting a week" deadline - if not I'm sorry in advance...

It was Kallus' look at the beginning of the episode that hit me over the head, because there was a time in my life where I wore that look every day: sad, stressed, uncertain but trying to do the best one can, seeing that sequence even in the teaser I felt such INTENSE EMPATHY that the rest of the episode was just dressing. I knew immediately what I wanted to capture.

The pic itself is pretty straightforward. Looking at it now (I finished Wed but had no time to upload it), some of the proportions are off, especially in the length of the arms and torso in relation to his head, but the posture is nearly perfect -and I didn't think I was going to be that luck! His expression is a little stiff, but it gets the point across, and the dark greys and dull pinks give the piece a mood that I kind of like. I'm beginning to notice that my painting screen might bee too bright for me, because when I'm painting I see all these color gradients and it looks very light, and now that it's in my regular screen it looks much darker. That's okay for a pic like this but I worry for when I do brighter pieces. To be determined...
