Hello summer break! How desperately I've needed you!

And to kick off the summer I have one of my doodles generated from ep100 of MLP: Slice of Life. I was never (and still am not) all that into the background ponies, but I know the background ponies are an entire sub-genre of the fandom, and I don't think you can be a fan and NOT know all the common fanon hijinks - including Lyra and Bonbon. The idea to make Bonbon a secret agent monster hunter was the first true WTF moment of the episode, I think to prep you for the even bigger WTF moments to come. What truly brilliant about the Lyra Bonbon scenes, however, is that shippers can interpret it however they wish. There is no way you can have thos dry, ironic voices saying "best friend" while clapping flanks or holding hooves or even the classic spat line "We're going to talk about this later!" Best friend is thrown left and right for the nonshippers, and their dry irony and headnodding is for the shippers.

Anyway, I'm way off track now. For the piece, since it's a thing that Bonbon has so many voices and that she's now a Secret Agent, the spy movie trope of a doppelganger. Seems legit. And of course Lyra is the "damsel in distress." The background gave me the most trouble, just because I didn't have a specific one in mind, and I usually need one in order for me to rough it out to look good. Ah, well. Something to work on this summer.

What I like: Bonbon (the pony up front) The light isn't on her so she's mostly in shadow, and her face came out really good. Her legs are okay, but Lyra's expression is PERFECT.

What I don't like: blah background is blah. SweetieBon's hair looks off, though I'm not sure where.
